ANTIGONE: IS LOVE DEAD IN 2024

ANTIGONE: IS LOVE DEAD IN 2024

Commonly, tragedies explore themes of: love, death, loss, repeat. In this recontextualisation, the cohort explored themes of post-colonialsim, the war in Palestine, getting high in the middle of a pandemic, love at parties, love in movies, the orange peel theory, incels and the love you share with your friends.

The devised work was directed by Joe Paradise-Lui, and devised by Isabelle Staiger-Creed, Bailey Beecham, Lana Rosalea, Gisele Forsythe, Matias Nunez, Halle Blake-Burrows, Narii Salmon, Lexie May, Lou Martin, Josh Mitchell and Diana Quarshie.

Original music composed by Max Reina-Henriksen, and stage managed by Maisy Burchart.

And because, like how we asked you to peel an orange if you loved us, I now ask you to donate to UNICEF to assist children in need in Gaza.

A transformation of the classic Greek text, Antigone, framed to ask ourselves: how do you create a tragedy?
