ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

TO, YOU

Their acting approach is founded on Molik, Roy Hart and Linklater voice work, Suzuki and Laban movement work. Their theatremaking approach is inspired by makers like David Harris, Snuff Puppets, Polyglot, THE RABBLE and Berlocht Brecht. The aesthetics of her work remind audiences of dualities like camp and earnestness, urgent and absurdist, embodied and character.

Her special interests lie in initiating dialogues surrounding feminism in a post-web 2.0 world, trauma-informed practices and the climate crisis in our oceans. Lana is trained by Arts Access Victoria in accessible arts practices, which inform their aesthetic. Research and authenticity is at the core of their practice, resulting in a performance that is “committed, strong and thought through.”

During Polyglot and Cementa Festival residencies, their interactive theatre training focussed on making quiet spaces for activists, sensory engagement and play. Most notably, Lana performed in ‘ANTIGONE: IS LOVE DEAD IN 2024’ (dir. Joe Paradise Lui) for VCA, ‘TIN CAN’ (dir. Lexie May), ‘THE DIVE’ (dir. Lana Rosalea) and ‘The Indescribable Feeling Of’ (dir. Darcie Campbell) for MUSE festival 2024. Furthermore, Lana wrote and directed ‘TABLE FOR ONE’ with Eleven Eleven Theatre, with the multi-disciplinary show being described as having ‘pulled off [a] magnificent [production] feat’ by local critics in 2024. They were also deservingly proud of their self-directed, written, lighting and sound designed work, ‘YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE LORE’ for MUSE Festival 2025, which was described as ‘totally unstoppable ... crazy, camp and deeply feeling.’ Alongside this, they were a key performer in a 2022 production of ‘The Cocoon’, winning best actor at Murrumba Festival, KSP festival, Beenleigh festival, and Ipswich Festival for this performance.

Lana’s practice is strongly influenced by her membership in the queer and neurodivergent community. Her goals as an artist is to make space for you.

Lana Rosalea is a proud neurodivergent, queer and multidisciplinary theatre maker and actor based in Naarm/Melbourne.

FROM, LANA ROSALEA
