YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE LORE
YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE LORE
WARNING: THIS IS LIKE FANGIRLS …. But gay-er
Chucks, Sketch and Doc renamed themselves, at the bright age of 7, after ABACUS’ collaborations with the shoe brands. And now, the trio plans to see ABACUS, the BIGGEST pop artist in history, in concert (think TaylorSwiftChappellRoanOliviaRodrigoJanetJacksonRuPaul megaboss).
Suddenly, a groundbreaking event casts a shadow on their lifelong dreams. They call this event: doomsday.
A.D. (after doomsday) Sketch and Doc move away from their hometown, leaving Chucks alone. They only reunite six months later, the weekend of the concert…
New romances and rising tensions lead to a chorus of pres parties, Western bar karaoke, sleepover makeovers, girlhood memories, and hushed conversations about doomsday. Keynotes of endometriosis, autism, and the cost of living arise as the girls question: what will you do to keep the friends you’ve always had? Underneath this, the fantastical worldbuilding pays homage to the drag queens that have always informed mainstream ‘straight’ pop culture and always will.
YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE LORE is a power ballad, singing to the nastiness and joys of female, queer friendships.
